What do you think of when you hear the word amulet or charm? Do you automatically think of good luck or magic ? Well if you said that it is sort of true. You might even use or have one.
Okay this might be a little too much but I also do use amulets in my work in progress DURING THE BLUE HOUR. The amulets that I wrote about within my novel is called a raven claw amulet and it works in the same way as a real world amulets . But what are amulets and charms really?
Let’s explore the answer to this question with
REAL WORLD RESEARCH
Did you know the phrase “God Bless you ” when someone sneezes is a magical word and charm. I didn’t either. Words are perhaps the most potent form of the amulet. Incantations, metrical and nonsensical words and sounds as well as written spells or “charms” were very common in the past.
Amulet are anything worn on the neck , wrist or something that is attached to a person. It can also be a written or drawn symbol.
Amulets and charms are said to be worn by both woman, men and children of every culture around the world since the dawning of time. It was also said that amulets were specially made to protect the wearer from evil and negative energy . Usually the amulet that is worn is spelled or blessed by a magician, priest or holy person such as a shaman .
Charms are much of the same as amulets except it is also used as good luck.
IN THE WIP NOVEL
The raven claw amulet is a celestial object that is protected by the earth divers to give to the main character Sirena .
HISTORY
No one is sure who created the ravens claw. But it was created at the beginning of the first world to defeat evil entities. Six raven claw amulets are later given to the earth divers at the beginning of the second world to protect until they find the shaman who can use it to stop Accalia the Kraldire. Only a shaman can wield and use the amulet.
DURING THE BLUE HOUR WIP NOVEL
One of the raven claws are seen hanging in Zios and Nadiya’s house.
The raven claw amulet that is seen and mentioned in my work in progress was given to Zios by Chemsen the earth diver before the beginning of the story in my short story The Hour of Humanity .
