Creation myths are a  staple in novel writing when it comes to worldbuilding and creating  your worlds  for a  fantasy and sci-fi  novels. It’s  so important that  its required  in my  opinion  in order to have a good story. In order  to have a good  world in your story  in my opinion you have  to do your research. I love doing research. That is the best part of writing a fantasy sci-fi  novel.

With that thought I want to tell you a little bit about  what creation myths I used and  how  for my  work in progress werewolf  Blue Hour novel series

Well I did a post the other day  about characters in my  work in progress novel  called  the   Viators  of Caelum Who are  travelers of time itself.  And who are tasked with tracking down Accalia , the were wolf caninruh  who is the main villain and  antagonist of the whole  hour series.   I also posted a video about them and the earthdiversThe Viātors of the Caelum: Earth Diver Novel Concept Short film 8

OKAY  SO WHO ARE THE EARTHDIVERS?

Earth diver. How did I come up with this word?  Well let’s look into a little

REAL WORLD RESEARCH

In my research the word earth diver comes from  creation myths  called divers myths where it  consisted  of beings diving into the water that covers the earth to retrieve  parts of the earth .

One of the divers myth comes  from the Iroquois Native American creation  stories, where  there were talks of sky people who lived  happily in the air on a floating island.  There  was this sky woman  who fell from the sky  and  these birds  caught her before she fell and brought her to  the water animals who were said to  inhabited the Earth  below, before there was land .  The birds  hoping to help her, dove into the seas to bring up mud. This mud they spread onto the back of a  Big Turtle. There it began to grow until it became North America.

IN MY WIP  NOVEL

In the  Iroquois Native American creation story  it was never stated what  kind of birds saved the sky woman .There is also a sky woman story reference within my novel connected to my main character but I will tell you about that at a later time.

So  in my  novel  the  earthdivers  are celestial  beings and a type of Viators  of Caelum who choose the forms of  ravens because it’s easier for them to get around( I will write  a post / and  have a podcast episode about ravens  at another time)

They are the Guardians of the wolves  in the first world   who were ordered by the Viators  to help track and bring Accalia  back to Neoera .  Earth divers were later sent down to Neoera and ancient times  in secret  to help restore the balance of the first and second worlds. At the beginning of the third world they are trackers and hunters of Accalia again and are ordered to collect the original mud of the seas and  purify  their only defense weapon against Lilith which are  called the raven claw amulets, in which they sworn to protect.( I will also write another post about the ravens claw a little later)
