The Cure Quest Scene: The Werewolf’s Race Against Time

The Cure Quest Scene: The Werewolf’s Race Against Time

Writing the Werewolf Novel: Race Against Time: Incorporating Exciting Cure Quest Scenes to Your Werewolf Novel’s last pages of the 2nd Draft

What is this race against time for the werewolf ?

It is a pressing deadline, the ticking clock; a time limit within which the werewolf must find a cure.

Why would the Werewolf search for a Cure?

A werewolf might seek a cure for several reasons:

  1. Regaining Control: Being a werewolf often means losing control during transformations, which can lead to unintended harm to themselves or others. A cure could help them regain control over their actions.
  2. Returning to Normalcy: The life of a werewolf can be isolating and disruptive, affecting relationships and everyday activities. A cure could allow them to return to their normal life.
  3. Avoiding Stigma: Werewolves are often feared or misunderstood in society or within the context of the story. Finding a cure could help them avoid this stigma.
  4. Physical Toll: The transformation process can be physically painful or exhausting. A cure could relieve this physical distress.

What is the Cure Quest Scene in the werewolf novel?

The Cure Quest Scene is a crucial part of the narrative where the protagonist werewolf, embarks on a journey or mission to find a cure for their lycanthropy (their condition of being a werewolf). This quest is usually filled with various challenges and obstacles that the protagonist must overcome.

The Cure Quest Scene serves multiple purposes in the story:

  • It drives the plot forward and adds an element of suspense and adventure.
  • It allows for character development as the protagonist faces and overcomes challenges.
  • It engages the readers, making them root for the protagonist’s success in finding the cure.

Crafting the Cure Quest Scene in a Werewolf WIP Novel

Setting the Stage
Firstly, establish the stakes. The protagonist’s transformation into a werewolf should be a source of conflict, disrupting their life and relationships. The quest for a cure becomes a beacon of hope, a chance to regain their humanity. Use vivid descriptions to portray the protagonist’s struggle with their werewolf nature, making the reader invested in their journey.

The Quest Begins
Next, introduce the cure. It could be a rare herb, a spell, or a ritual, shrouded in mystery and guarded by perilous challenges. The protagonist’s decision to seek the cure should be a turning point in the story, marking the start of their adventure. This decision can be driven by a desire to protect loved ones, a longing for their old life, or a refusal to succumb to their beastly instincts.

Challenges and Obstacles
The protagonist’s path should be fraught with obstacles that test their courage, resilience, and determination. These challenges can range from battles with other supernatural creatures to solving cryptic riddles, each hurdle bringing them one step closer to the cure. Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. The protagonist should grow and evolve through these trials, adding depth to their character.

The Climax and Resolution
Finally, the climax of the Cure Quest scene should be a dramatic confrontation or a moment of profound revelation. Whether the protagonist finds the cure or not, this scene should be a culmination of their journey, reflecting their growth and the lessons they’ve learned. The resolution should tie up loose ends, setting the stage for the next phase of the protagonist’s story.

Remember, it’s not just about the curse; it’s about the race against time, the bonds forged, and the sacrifices made.

A SMALL UPDATE ON DURING THE BLUE HOUR

My Chapter 40 , DIMOND MIST VALLEY in my wip werewolf novel- My main Character Sirena’s 18th birthday is one day away before she turns into a werewolf , but can she find a cure before time runs out? it is a race against time in this new chapter scene I’m currently writing.

Five more chapters to go.

WRITING CHAPTER 40 DIMOND MIST VALLEY

This chapter and scene begins sometime later after my chapter 39 . Sirena wanders the empty dark road unable to trust anyone after the pack’s betrayal and begs her spirit guide for a cure because my main character does not want to become a werewolf at all . The spirit guide tells Sirena that there is one cure but it is not truely a cure. My character Sirena is quick to jump on it and demand that her spirit guide tell her what and where the cure is.

The spirit guide tells Sirena exactly that. The cure is deep in a valley that sparkle like dimonds. Sirena is encountered my Adrian, her love interest, who tries to get her to leave the mountain with him. She refuses to leave with him but insist he come with her to find the cure over the other end of the mountain. She speeds away and he trails after her.

Not finished with this chapter yet . However, there will be an imense cure quest into this unknown valley searching for this cure. This will be the only chapter within the novel so far to delve into other supernatural creatures that live and hide in the desert besides the werewolves. And creatures do not want Sirena to get this cure which is a poppy plant by the way.
