I been dancing around this topic for a while now but I been trying to save it since most of my short stories within the Blue Hour Series will contain this technique;The narrative framing or bookend with flashbacks technique. Or “the here and now story”, where the story is just one long flashback .
I know what you’re thinking . We don’t want to see or read a characters backstory. We want to see them in the present. This is sloppy writing. Terrible way to start a story. But I don’t believe that’s true because there is a short story /novel connection.
I have decided while working on my second draft to add the deleted character Zios back into my work in progress novel DURING THE BLUE HOUR . But only as a Cameo in one scene.
